            posit = pos + it[v.] = put (as truth) =假定、断定

            postulate = post + ul + ate[v.] = put(as truth) = 假定为真(vt.) / 前提条件(n.)

pon

            exponent = ex[out] + pon + ent[n.]

                        = put out (tothe public / from conception to realization / as example)

                        = 倡导者/ 实践者/ 典型代表

            proponent = pro[forth] + pon + ent[n.] =put forth (to the public)

                        = (向公众)提出 -> 建议者、支持者

                        PS：putforth 和 put forward 都有“提出”的含义

            compound = com[together] + pound[put, 词根pon的变形]

                        =put (different things / same things / conficting opinions) together

                        =混合物(n.)、混合物的(a.)、混合(vt.)/ 扩大、增多 / 和解

thes, thet

            parenthesis = par(a)[beside] + en[in] + thes+ is[n.] = put in besides

                        =(在一件事进行时)放入其他-> 间断

                        PS：也有“圆括号”的含义，因为文章常用圆括号“放入其他”解释性内容。

            antithetical = anti[againt] + thet + ic +al[a.] = put against = 完全对立的、相反的

其他

            post作前缀表示back

                        postdoc : postdoctoral的缩写，即：博士后

                        preposterous = pre[before] + post + er +ous[a.] = 即在前面又在后面 -> 荒谬的、不合常理的

            pound[磅]来自词根pond，表示weight[重量、称重]。

                        ponder：=pond[weight] + er = 掂量

                        ponderous = pond[weight] + er + ous[a.]= 沉重的、沉闷无聊的

                        preponderant = pre[before] + pond[weight]+ er + ant[a.]

                                    =重量、权重在其他之上的-> 占优势的、更重要的
